Peace Talk on MENA Region with Dr. Jake Lynch

On the occasion of the International Day of Human Rights 2017, Media Association for Peace (MAP) organised a Peace Talk on the MENA region with British journalist-turned-academic, Dr. Jake Lynch, pioneer of peace journalism and Chair of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at University of Sydney, Australia.

As a continuity to our Media, Peace and Human Rights Regional Conference held on November 27, the discussion was about the role of Peace Journalism in enhancing human rights amidst the turmoil that MENA region is going through.

The Peace Talk aimed to discuss the coverage of the latest conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa region. It focused on the role of media in peacebuilding in war-affected countries and look at the way journalism can influence events when peace and security are threatened, and human rights and liberties are violated.

Through Q&A with Dr. Jake Lynch, it was an opportunity to understand how can peace journalism address political crisis and social conflicts, and how can media contribute to the advancement of human rights in an agitated region.
